A great tune showing the brilliance of Amos Garrett’s guitar prowess.
Sleepwalk was originally written, recorded, and released in 1959 by Santo and Johnny Farina. Prominently featuring the steel guitar, it entered Billboard's Top 40 on August 17, 1959. It rose to the number 1 position for the last two weeks in September and remained in the Top 40 until November 9. The Shadows recorded the tune for their 1961 album ‘The Shadows’.
"Sleep Walk" was also the principal inspiration to Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green for his 1968 instrumental "Albatross", which became a worldwide hit. It was also used during the final scene of the 1987 film ‘La Bamba’. In fact, the song inspired Stephen King to write his very first screenplay for the 1992 horror film Sleepwalkers. The film features the song as well.

I purchased my copy at Eddy’s Office Supply in Timmins ON July 20, 1967 for $4.20. (The same album was being sold in Toronto for as little as $3.49. This was what Eric Clapton left Mayall for!

When he was eight years old, he was inspired by Elvis Presley and the Ventures to start playing guitar. His teacher directed him toward jazz standards. He cites as influences jazz guitarists George Benson and Kenny Burrell and bluegrass and country guitarists Clarence White and Doc Watson. He attended Berklee College of Music in 1971. At nineteen, he was hired by Chick Corea to replace Bill Connors in the pioneering jazz fusion band Return to Forever. After that band broke up in 1976, he began his solo career. His early albums were influential among rock and jazz guitarists.

The Cannons were difficult to record: artillery fired in the open air sounds impressive, but when recorded sound like popguns so they used three shotguns loaded with black powder and were overdubbed (Fielder used earplugs). 1st Classical conductor to embrace the music of The Beatles

Mickey Andrews, Randy McDonald and Gerry Hall played in the Horseshoe Tavern’s house band ‘The Good The Bad and The Ugly’ who backed up Stompin’ Tom on his early recordings. After the death of guitar vocalist Gerry Hall (who drowned on October 6, 1975), Andrews and McDonald formed Cabbagetown who went on to release a few albums.

This was the most stable and longest lived of any configuration of The Byrds, lasting 3 years without personnel changes.The band still had not made up their minds regarding an album title when Terry Melcher, while filling out record company documentation for the album sessions, wrote the placeholder "(Untitled)" in a box specifying the album's title. A misunderstanding ensued and before anyone associated with the band had realized, Columbia Records had pressed up the album with that title, including the parentheses. In February and March 1970, two consecutive New York concert appearances were recorded for the live disc.

Beck played guitar in a succession of groups, beginning with Screaming Lord Sutch and the Savages in 1962 when they recorded "Dracula's Daughter. In 1963, after Ian Stewart of the Rolling Stones introduced him to R&B, he formed the Nightshift and recorded a single, "Stormy Monday". Beck then joined the Rumbles, a Croydon band, in 1963 before joining the Tridents. He claimed: "They were really my scene because they were playing flat-out R&B, like Jimmy Reed stuff, and we supercharged it all up and made it really rocky. I got off on that, even though it was only twelve-bar blues." He was recruited by the Yardbirds to succeed Eric Clapton in 1965.

From The Planets suite by Gustav Holst. The suite contained seven parts, one for each planed but Earth. Of course, this was composed between 1914 and 1917 before the discovery of Pluto in 1936. This later proved to be controversial and in 2000 composer Colin Matthews was commissioned by the Halle Orchestra to compose ‘Pluto, the Renewer’ to end the suite. A few years later, Pluto was downgraded to dwarf planet status.
