musician from Timmins, Gordon Murray LaPierre, also wrote and sang a song
about Kathy Kreiner, just named after her.

I got the song off a rather obscure album that I purchased at the Latchford

of songs from celebrated Kirkland Lake poet, Barney McCracken. He being no
singer, he got others to sing his songs on these two volumes.

McGarrigle fans: have you ever figured out what Pronto Monto (the name
of the album) actually means? It’s supposed to mean “prends ton manteau”
or “take your coat”. This album was overproduced for AM radio airplay and
failed to click with their audience, thus they were dropped by Warner Brothers.
This album first appeared on CD in 2016, which says a lot about how the McGarrigles
felt about it.

”I’ve Got Everything I Need (Almost)” may sound like the kind of song that
might have come out of Memphis or New Orleans, but actually it’s an example
of the Canadian influences that Dan Aykroyd brought to the Blues Brothers.
First recorded by Toronto’s Downchild Blues Band, Aykroyd’s harmonica talents
bring texture to the song, while John Belushi is is most powerful on the
vocals. There’s also a nice featured sax break by Tom Scott and the always
solid backup from the rest of the band. ”I’ve Got Everything I Need (Almost)”
was featured on the band’s first album, Briefcase Full of Blues. The concert
was recorded at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, when the Blues
Brothers band opened for comedian Steve Martin. Dan Akroyd
