Was involved in a fight while taking a break from a performance at a nightclub on the South Side of Chicago and died in his sleep.

In 2010, Cyndi Lauper recorded "Just Your Fool" for her album Memphis Blues

His only appearance on a Byrds album was groundbreaking Sweetheart of the Rodeo, basically the first rock band to convert to country music, leading the way for others, like the Flying Burrito Brothers and The Eagles. He was introduced to a very young Emmylou Harris by Chris Hillman (The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers).
