Here Are Your Particulars:

Boot Records

Fall 1970 - Juri Krytiuk, 21, with Dominion Records (Canada Music Sales) for 2 yrs
Had been involved with record distribution in Saskatchewan since his mid teens
Knowlegeable about publishing, producing, distribution and marketing
Was going nowhere at Dominion – making $100 / wk

Stompin’ Tom decides to invest his money into a new music venture: Boot Records – asks Juri to be his partner.Tom invests at 51% to keep control of the company but doesn’t want the public to know. Juri is the front man for the company.

Company incorporates Jan1, 1971 and immediately begins to release records. The first acts signed were 1) Humphrey & The Dumptrucks by Juri; 2) Stevedore Steve by Tom and 3) Stompin’ Tom Connors, in that order.

Mark Altman
A junior founding partner in Boot.

Originally signed as an artist in 1971, Altman started working at Boot Records, first as a house producer / A&R guy, and then made manager of Morning Music, 1974. Morning Music Limited was incorporated in 1971 by Country artist Stompin’ Tom Connors, his manager, Jury Krytiuk and Mark Altman.

Altman was past president of the three major industry organizations – the Canadian Music Publisher Association (CMPA), SOCAN, and the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Limited (CMRRA). He’s the only person in Canada to have achieved such honours.
